Next meeting of the Dalston Writing Group will be, very much as the title of this post suggests, on Tuesday 18 June at 6pm.
We thought we'd use this session to launch a project and see how it goes. Here's the backstory: about a week ago we discovered, hidden in the pages of a random thriller in the library, a letter. It was addressed 'Dear stranger'. The author was anonymous. It was a beautifully written account of hope and regret. Exactly the sort of thing you'd want to start a story with.
The plan is that we'll each compose our own response to this letter, in whatever way feels right, and gather those pieces together for publication, even if it's only here.
To whet your appetite, here's a bit of Twitter activity generated by our original posting.
We're a group of writers based at Dalston CLR James Library in Hackney. This blog is home to our news and work: short stories, flash fiction, life-writing, poems, lonely sentences waiting to be swept up by novels, untamed metaphors and other amazing imaginings. To find out more and/or join us, click the 'All About...' link. It's red. Just underneath this bit. Down there. On the right.
